reincarnation

what will I know of me

what will stay in memory

what will become

what if I came back as a

stone buried inside a mountain

never amounting to anything

what if I came back as a

diamond in a wedding ring

never expressing my own love

  (will you recognize me)

what if I became a speck of

alga among a billion in bloom

or a virus in the urine stream

of a city rat

  (will you despise me)

what if I'm the fragrant smell

of a teenage girl's first rose

or the delicious aroma of

movie theater popcorn

or the pleasance of

aftersex skin

  (will you delight in me)

what if I never meet you again

what if we only continue to keep

reliving further and further apart

what if this chance is the

best one we'll ever get

  (will you live now

   and love with me)

what if I don't want to

come back around here

what if I scream

No More!

No More!

No More!

what if its not my choice

oh god...

what if its not my choice

seeking inoculation

it seems immunity has

not been achieved yet

the distracted eye sits

in front of the screen

and absorbs the lie

bodies in the field

quivering and rhythmic

smoothly they slow down

abruptly they quicken

to the highs and lows

infected eye, infected I

bloated with assumptions

seeking inoculation

without direction in this

misguided state of mind

endless knot

there's a binding night

in front of me as the

wagging tongue of karma

waffles in the wind

love has yet to run its full

course through my body.

I've only just received the

injection and the site is

still beaded with blood

the wind blows, oh how the

wind blows so restlessly.

I observe the call to her as

a smooth rustling of leaves,

as a swoosh upon water

continuous, despite faults

and tangles through time

our endless knot transcends

boundaries and obstructions

hold me tight, hold me tighter

enfolding, flowing, forevering

of a red love

want of a red love

that pops off the

green painted canvas

  rose in the grass

  blood on envy

  lust within life

want of crimson red

the depth of death

as a living thing

eternal

want of pink red

the length of tongue

as versatile and unique

as expression

want of serious red

engorged and inflamed

a soft seriousness

like sunset's decline

want of a red love

a Palomar knot

that binds us together

  tethers to vessel

a flash of darkness

( of sun showers

and a pretty face.

how moments subdue

the time we chase )

I didn't buy this

ticket for life, it was

handed to me and I

exchanged it for entry

at the turnstile

some amount of

lucky steps later and

here I stand.

surprised... not really

bewildered... perhaps

a blink, a flash of

darkness provides the

necessary meditation

between observation

and understanding

reached my hand

simplicity,

its the key to

grenades

its up in 4 seconds

or upon impact,

either way there's

really no defense

I split my selves

and sacrifice a few

jumping on grenades

to protect the others

the more they're thrown

the more selves are lost,

I'm dwindling down to

cold blood and loose limbs

no hideout in the trenches,

war will find its way in

one more hits the ground

as I just shake my head

gray-bark tree

the spirit world is

against me

or full of truth

  its yet to be

  decided

shall I be a

gray-bark tree

leafless in the desert

parched and mute

there  I am permanence

there  nothing is temporary

long live the days

unending

without without

and without

the plunge

time ticks into a change

rearranged but the same

little hand, big hand

pointed skyward at twelve

like a cliff-diver with both

hands up together, poised

to jump over the edge

second-hand anticipation

relentless movement forward.

the stalker, the cause of this

anxiousness

knees buckling, toes clenching

onto the rock ledge, abs tight,

one big breath, legs springing

the body up and out, into the

plunge

new hour, new day, new year

rearranged but the same

in the attic

crimes in the attic

panic of misfit toys

the shattered window

and rain

high view of moon

the spirit world and

messages from angels

on high

the ancient word Love

stitched blood-brown

into aged white pillows

unkempt

noise in the silence

all things considered

even those that don't

make sense

journal-7, vulnerable to the push and pull

spent the turning of the new year with the stars and the sea. neither of which acknowledged this passing of time, these simple seconds. such a small matter to things that seem so eternal. what's a minute, an hour, a year to these well-fed beasts of time.

constellations swirl, a golden shooting star, the ship’s azure glow, fireworks crackling, the beach fire huddled around, a shadow-black shoreline bird, the living city lights, slow rise of the big dipper, midnight celebration, lips kissing the lips of another, shallow soft foaming fizzing tide, gentle waves across skin, free float, the ocean push, the pull, the release, couples embracing, the lamplight, a silence, the lonely parking lot, damp breeze, layered fog, 2 am immaculate sky... these are all strange to me. all distant. some known, some unknown. my hands feel full. my hands remain empty.

if we ever get together, will you come here with me. can I chase you into the waves as one year ends and another one begins. can we make love in the sand up near the dunes while forgetting about time. can we talk about forever as we look into the deep space above. can you imagine us, a binary star, seen as one from so far away. seen from here. right now.

there are worlds without us. there's an entire galaxy below me in the sand. and within every breath inhaled, exhaled. they don't hold my interest for very long. I'm not smart enough to know the complexities at those levels. I'm barely making sense of it here, where I exist. where I know hurt and joy and loss and sacrifice and intense kissing and disappointing rejection and moments of learning and moments of confusion and what love is and what love is not and the depth of dislike it takes to get to hate and the sorrow felt recognizing ignorance. uncertainties abound in unknown worlds. its hard to believe in an existence somewhere else, anywhere that seems less comfortable than here. I have a strange need for a balance to the unseen equation. equilibrium. its a cruel requirement.

twenty twenty-two. fifty-two. insignificant numbers to the stars and the sea. another wave will come after the one that just crashed. another star will form after one collapses. I don't want to go anywhere. I want to stay. eternal. I want to exist and re-exist with you. I want to love you and love you and love you, without ending. no time limits. no complexities. no uncertainties. a comfort. can you imagine that. wherever you are. whatever you're doing. I am here without you. feet alone in the sand. eyes lost in the sky. I am here in another year now. still vulnerable to the push and pull. still imagining something of us, much greater than this feebleness.

tempest confined

I feel it too

initial thrust

first separation

arc of intrusion

where your white words

rust from exposure

where your given body

adapts to the pangs

---

cylinder, silo

tempest confined

growl of composure

stirs of a goddess

the venom source

the covenant seal

unleashed with greed

unbound, undefended

get the bullet

the easy one in the way

always gets the bullet

a hammer rises in a

hand that

drives the nail home

the box of disintegration

lies snug in the womb

a wildflower rises above

random seed, no meaning

but beautiful

(Bullet-blood by aggrocat on deviantart.com)

from the skyless night

I dwell in blooded sanctum

blinded by the poisoned vision

deafened by the moaning tone

vertigo   and the eyes dilate

mutate   and the heart implodes

body of wings   body of light

drugged into a saved stupor

she falls from the skyless night

straight into this callous prison

polar bareness

out of necessity

the vacant white

matte of a region

exposed expansive

with brutal simplicity

and blinding white

a mouth is numb

with its own hello

and polar bareness

hushed in the husk

of this barren land

that lost its need

an afterthought

I saw a leaf

fall from a tree today

and I felt its

fall to death

does it matter

how many leaves fall,

how many of us die

the tree will still stand

new leaves will return

brown gray and bare

will turn to

bright green fullness

  a man walks by

  and flicks a cigarette

  near the trunk

  he'll be falling

  soon enough

  I thought

  his skin already

  turning

  and crisp
