Rain

nighttime falling raindrops

down from thundering stallion skies

over and onto

into and across

cars and trees and rivers and streets

people getting wet

metal toys rusting

insect houses flooding

tears of ancient strangers

the distant sorrow of souls

amassed in clouds & crying together

puddles    leaks     and levels rising

windshieldwipers    gutters     & drains

clearing & guiding,     praying for the sun

    O do not come!

    Sleep on sweet star,

Darkness      distance    & the blissful wetness
of rain
have brought us together again
